The Trainee Teaching Assistant Role

We’re recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants to support pupils in SEND and mainstream secondary settings. No experience is needed. We provide full training and ongoing guidance to help you succeed. This role would be suitable for graduates, individuals with a care background and history with working with SEND children or someone who wants to start their career in education.

Responsibilities of a Trainee Teaching Assistant

Support teachers and SEND staff with learning activities and behaviour routines.

Assist pupils one-to-one or in small groups to help them engage and progress.

Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation using school strategies.

Help prepare resources and maintain an organised classroom environment.

Requirements of a Trainee Teaching Assistant

A genuine interest in working with pupils, especially those with SEND needs.

Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.

Willingness to complete training and required safeguarding checks (including DBS).

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
