Teaching Assistant

Location: Melksham

Job Type: Flexible Supply / Long-Term / Temp-to-Perm

Pay: Competitive, paid weekly

Affinity Workforce is working in partnership with primary schools and Multi Academy Trusts in Melksham and is currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across a range of educational settings.

We have a high demand for support staff, offering both flexible day-to-day work and longer-term placements. Whether you're looking for immediate shifts, classroom support roles, or a more consistent position, we can help find the right opportunity for you.

We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants as well as candidates with a background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support, as many of our partner schools require additional support for pupils with a range of learning, communication, behavioural, and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons

Providing classroom support to individual pupils and small groups

Assisting pupils with their learning, development, and wellbeing

Supporting pupils with additional learning, behavioural, communication, or emotional needs where required

Helping to implement strategies and interventions to support pupil progress and engagement

Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

Encouraging independence, participation, and positive behaviour

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to meet pupils' needs

Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality

Requirements

Experience working with children or young people (essential)

Experience in a school or educational setting (preferred)

Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable and advantageous for many of our placements

A patient, caring, and proactive approach

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to adapt to different school environments

A valid Paediatric First Aid qualification is required

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
