Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

Location: Birmingham

Start Date: Jun 2026

Salary: £80 - £110 - per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Temporary, ongoing

Hours: Full-time (Monday - Friday 08:30am - 15:30 pm)

Are you a calm, compassionate individual looking to make a meaningful difference in a young person's educational experience? Empowering Learning is currently seeking a reliable and skilled Teaching Assistant to support students and groups in lessons. Some students may have Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, PDA, and Dyslexia.

This role is based in a welcoming and inclusive secondary school located in Birmingham, offering a supportive team environment and a strong focus on individual student development. You'll work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external agencies to provide targeted support and help the student thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver 1:1 tailored and class support to a student with SEN, helping to meet their educational and emotional needs

Support all students in lessons

Collaborate with teachers, SENCo, and specialists to implement EHCP targets effectively

Adapt lesson materials and resources to ensure accessibility across subjects

Build a trusting relationship with the student and act as a consistent and positive role model

Support the student's participation, confidence, and engagement in all aspects of school life

Working as a Teaching Assistant in our client's school you will:

Prior experience supporting young people with SEN in a school or care setting

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

A minimum of a Level 2 qualification

A patient, resilient, and adaptable attitude suited to a secondary environment
