Student Support Assistant (Teaching Assistant)

Location: Hounslow

Further education colleges play a crucial role in helping learners gain qualifications, confidence, and independence. We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant / Student Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive college environment and help students access learning effectively.

About the Role

This position involves working closely with lecturers and support teams to assist students during lessons and independent study. As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted academic and pastoral support, helping learners overcome barriers to education and achieve their full potential. The role is well suited to candidates with previous experience in education or learner support.

Key Responsibilities

Provide in-class support across a range of college courses

Deliver 1:1 and small group learning support

Assist students with additional needs, including SEN and EHCPs

Support lesson delivery and classroom organisation

Encourage learner engagement, independence, and confidence

Help manage behaviour and promote positive learning environments

Monitor student progress and share feedback with teaching staff

Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and college policies

Working Pattern

Full-time position

Monday to Friday

College hours during term time

Requirements to Apply

Applicants must have:

Previous experience in a student support or classroom-based role

Experience working in a college, school, or similar education setting

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to support learners with a range of needs

A patient, professional, and reliable approach

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
