Description
Milk Education is proud to be working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Newcastle to recruit a Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in 2026.
This role is based primarily in Key Stage 1 and would suit a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting early learning, particularly in phonics and literacy development.
The Role:
Supporting class teachers across KS1 with general classroom duties
Delivering phonics interventions, including Read Write Inc (RWI)
Providing small-group and occasional 1:1 support
Supporting pupils with additional needs (SEN) where required
Helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
While there will be some SEN support involved, this is mainly a general TA role focused on whole-class and small-group support.
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting
Strong understanding of KS1 curriculum
Experience delivering or supporting phonics interventions, ideally Read Write Inc
A patient, enthusiastic, and proactive approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
