Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis supporting a pupil with SEMH needs in a specialist SEN school in the beautiful town of Keswick, Cumbria.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide tailored support that helps a young person engage with learning, develop emotional regulation, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities: Provide personalised 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs

Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using positive strategies

Support the pupil's emotional well-being and social development

Assist the class teacher with delivering learning activities

Maintain records and contribute to support plans and reviews

Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals

About You: Experience working with children with SEMH or in an SEN setting (desirable)

Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff

Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or behaviour management are advantageous

Team Teach or similar behaviour de-escalation training (training can be provided)
