Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

Hours: Monday-Friday

About the Role

We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to join a specialist secondary SEND school in Bexley.

The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs, including pupils who require a high level of individualised support throughout the school day.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other professionals to support pupils with their learning, communication, independence, physical needs and overall development.

This is a hands-on and rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with pupils and make a genuine difference to their education and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Providing 1:1, small-group and whole-class support to pupils with SEND.

Supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, physical disabilities, Autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex needs.

Assisting pupils to access lessons and participate in learning activities.

Adapting activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.

Supporting pupils with communication and interaction, including those with limited or non-verbal communication.

Encouraging pupils to develop their independence, confidence and life skills.

Providing personal care, including toileting and changing where required.

Supporting pupils with mobility, moving and positioning in line with training and individual care plans.

Supporting pupils during break times, lunchtimes, activities and trips.

Following pupils' EHCPs, individual support plans and care plans.

Working alongside teachers, therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Promoting a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining pupils' dignity and wellbeing at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Patient, caring and passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.

Comfortable working with pupils with severe and complex needs.

Willing and comfortable providing personal and intimate care where required.

Able to adapt their communication and support to individual pupils.

Proactive and willing to get involved in all aspects of the school day.

Calm, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Committed to promoting pupils' independence and development.Experience supporting SLD, PMLD, Autism, physical disabilities, complex needs, personal care, hoisting, manual handling or alternative communication methods would also be beneficial.
