We are seeking a passionate and committed Sociology Teacher to join our academy. You will deliver an engaging, broad, and differentiated curriculum, support students' academic and personal development, and contribute to raising standards of attainment across the academy. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is committed to inclusive practice, high expectations, and helping students achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high–quality Sociology lessons across KS3 and KS4, developing resources, assessment strategies, and differentiated approaches to meet students' needs. Monitor and support student progress and development, acting as a form tutor to a designated group. Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental development, and quality assurance processes. Participate in professional development, engage in performance management, and support the academy's continuous improvement initiatives. Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders to support learning and engagement. Promote a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment. Person Specification / What We Are Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a relevant undergraduate degree. Experience teaching Sociology at secondary level; teaching practice is acceptable. Knowledge of the National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4 and experience developing resources, lesson plans, and assessment strategies. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to motivate students and raise aspirations. Understanding of effective teaching and learning, and commitment to equality of access for all students. Good ICT skills, including use of interactive whiteboards and digital learning tools. Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the wider life of the academy. Experience working in multi–ethnic urban schools or 11–18 settings is desirable. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on students' learning and personal development while working in a supportive and dynamic academy environment.
