Description

Social Work Graduate

Special Educational Needs & Behavioural Support Schools

Salary: up to £110 per day | Location: Preston

Transform Lives Using Your Social Work Skills

Are you a Social Work graduate ready to make a direct impact? Our special schools need passionate graduates to support children with learning difficulties, autism, behavioural challenges, and complex needs.

Your social work training has equipped you with exactly what our most vulnerable students need - now apply those skills where you can see the difference every day.

How Your Skills Transfer

Crisis Intervention → Supporting students during behavioural episodes

Family Systems Knowledge → Understanding how home life impacts learning

Assessment Skills → Identifying needs behind challenging behaviours

Advocacy Training → Ensuring every child's voice is heard

Multi-agency Experience → Working with teachers, therapists, and support services

What You'll Do

Support children with behavioural difficulties using trauma-informed approaches

Work with vulnerable students including looked-after children and those with social services involvement

Build therapeutic relationships with students who've experienced adversity

Engage families and connect them with community resources

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop support plans

Apply de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour strategies

Why Your Background Matters

You understand that behaviour is communication. You're trained to see the whole person, not just the diagnosis. You know how inequality and social factors impact development. You're equipped to work with complexity and believe in empowering children and families.

We Want You If:

Recent Social Work degree (within 3 years)

Passionate about vulnerable children and young people

Want to use your skills in an educational setting

Resilient, empathetic, and solution-focused

Understand the link between social factors and educational outcomes

Ready to Make a Difference?

These children need someone who understands trauma, sees beyond behaviour to the child underneath, and believes in their potential. Your social work training prepared you for exactly this challenge.
