Are you passionate about supporting children's social and emotional needs within the classroom?

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Social and Emotional Classroom Assistants to join our team across the Gateshead area. This role is essential in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for children, particularly those with SEND and SEMH needs. You will work closely with children to foster their social and emotional development, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and understood. The hours for this Social and Emotional Classroom Assistant role are 8:30 - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday.

What you need:

* Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.

* Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.

* Be able to provide your two most recent references - either work-based or education

* Have an engaging and proactive nature and a willingness to work in the best interest of young people

Duties

* Provide support to children, focusing on their social and emotional needs.

* Develop and implement strategies to enhance communication skills among children.

* Educate children on social skills through engaging activities and play-based learning.

* Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to create inclusive classroom environments.

* Monitor children's progress and adapt approaches as necessary to meet their evolving needs.

* Engage in toddler care when required, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment.

* Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians regarding children's development.
