Description

Senior Support Worker – Brand-New Children's Home (Autism, L/D, Complex Needs) – Birmingham

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum

Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

Shifts: Long shifts & regular sleep-ins required

Experience: Essential – must have experience in similar children’s residential settings

We’re supporting the launch of a new residential home in Birmingham, designed to provide therapeutic, person-centred care to children and young people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and complex needs. We’re looking for strong, compassionate professionals who can help shape a high-quality care environment from day one.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Act as a role model to junior staff and provide leadership on shift

Deliver high-quality, individualised care and support to young people with autism, L/D, and complex needs

Support the Deputy and Registered Manager with daily operations, team coordination and care planning

Promote positive behaviour through a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach

Oversee and contribute to risk assessments, support plans, and safeguarding processes

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, incident reports, and daily logs

Participate in multi-agency working, attending meetings and advocating for the young people

Support new staff with mentoring, induction, and training

Engage in long shifts and regular sleep-ins as part of a consistent, stable care routine

What We're Looking For:

Minimum Level 2 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent – essential)

Experience in a children’s residential setting supporting autism/L&D/complex needs

Confident working independently and leading a shift

A strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management and children’s regulations

Resilience, commitment, and a genuine passion for improving young lives
