SEND Teaching Assistant – Nurture classroom

Start Date: January 2027

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Salary: 110– 115 per day PAYE

Location: Islington

Contract: Long–term placement until July 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Are you a passionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity in January?

We are working with a warm, welcoming and supportive primary school who are looking for an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join their friendly team within a specialist nurture group classroom.

The class consists of approximately 8–10 pupils in Years 1–3, with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD and pupils who are pre–verbal or non–verbal.

You will be joining a fantastic team of three Teaching Assistants who work closely together to support the children's individual learning, communication, social development and emotional needs.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference and enjoys supporting children with additional needs to reach their full potential.

The Ideal Candidate:

Previous experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school or specialist setting.Experience supporting children with Autism and ADHD.An understanding of the needs of pre–verbal and non–verbal children.A patient, nurturing and understanding approach.Someone enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about working with children.A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues.The ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent support.

The Role:

Supporting pupils within a small nurture group classroom.Working alongside a team of three Teaching Assistants and the class teacher.Supporting children's learning, communication and personal development.Providing tailored support to meet individual needs and abilities.Encouraging engagement, independence and positive social interactions.Helping to create a safe, calm and nurturing learning environment.
