SEND Teaching Assistant/HLTA

Location: Birmingham/Solihull

Contract: Full time - temporary to permanent roles

Salary: Competitive - Based on Experience

About the role:

You will be helping pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to thrive both in the classroom and as individuals. Working closely with students every day, you will support their learning, build their confidence and support with their personal development. This is a hands-on role and many key aspect which include managing and responding to challenging behaviours in a calm, confident and proactive manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience working within SEND

Strong behaviour management skills and confidence in handling challenging situations.

A proactive, hands-on approach to supporting learning and development.

De-escalate situations effectively and implement behaviour strategies that promote positive outcomes.

The ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils and staff.

Essential Requirements:

Previous experience working in a SEND, SEMH, PRU or behaviour-focused setting.

Strong behaviour management skills with the confidence to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

Experience supporting pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, or associated behavioural needs.

A resilient, proactive and hands-on approach to supporting young people.

Confidence working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils displaying challenging behaviour.
