Location: Various school sites across Derby City

Start Date: January 2026

We are seeking committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to join specialist Inclusion Hubs across a number of Derby City schools. These hubs provide tailored support for pupils with a wide range of additional needs, and we are looking for individuals who can bring patience, resilience and a genuine passion for inclusive education.

The Role:

Working within a school-based Inclusion Hub, providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support.

Supporting pupils with a variety of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, PMLD, and SEMH.

Assisting with personalised learning plans, behaviour support strategies and daily routines.

Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a safe, consistent and nurturing manner.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure positive outcomes for every child.

Helping to create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience working with children with SEND in a school or specialist setting.

Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs, including communication difficulties, sensory needs and behavioural challenges.

A calm, compassionate and proactive approach, with strong behaviour management skills.

The ability to build trusting relationships and maintain professional boundaries.

Good teamwork and communication skills, working in partnership with teaching staff and wider support teams.

Relevant SEND training (e.g., Autism Awareness, Team Teach, MAPA, SEMH training) is highly beneficial, though not essential.

A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one). xjnqpsq
