SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant - Rotherham

Please note: Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential.

Experience working with students aged 7 to 19 with a range of moderate learning difficulties; some with additional needs such as speech and language difficulties, children on the autistic spectrum and children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The Role:

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:

Deliver tailored support to students with complex physical, cognitive, and sensory needs

Support the delivery of individualised, multi-sensory learning programmes

Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals

Assist with personal care, communication support, feeding, and mobility

Promote social interaction, life skills, and emotional well-being

Contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom that promotes dignity and respect

Build meaningful, trusting relationships with students and their families

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is truly passionate about supporting learners with high needs. The ideal candidate will have:

Experience supporting students with MLD and SEMH

A confident, calm, and compassionate approach

The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals and families

A proactive mindset and a commitment to inclusive practice

Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
