Description

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with autism to join a welcoming school on a long-term, temporary, ongoing basis, starting in November 2025.This is a happy, calm, and safe school where pupils are well supported and enjoy learning. Staff tailor the curriculum to meet individual needs, with a strong focus on communication. High expectations and consistent behaviour support help pupils achieve well and prepare confidently for secondary school.

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism, helping them to engage and succeed in their learning.

Implement individual education and support plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SEN team.

Use patience, structure, and understanding to help pupils manage sensory and communication needs.

Encourage social interaction and emotional development in a nurturing environment.

Work closely with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote consistency and progress.

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

Experience working with students with autism or in a SEND setting.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant.

A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.

Ability to adapt support to meet the individual needs of each child.
