Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: Sheffield

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time (term-time only)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our supportive school community in Sheffield from September 2026. This role involves working closely with students who have a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties

Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and adapting resources to meet individual needs

Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development

Implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)

Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment

Support students with personal care where required

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (in a school or similar setting)

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are desirable but not essential

Desirable Skills and Experience:

Experience supporting students with autism or behavioural xjnqpsq needs

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Training in Team Teach, Makaton, or similar interventions
