TeacherActive are working with a range of friendly and supportive schools across South Birmingham who are seeking dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to join their teams. These roles involve supporting pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, and complex needs.

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will:

Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND.

Help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering tailored learning activities.

Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, personal care (if required), and behaviour management.

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.

We are looking for individuals who have:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (in schools, care, youth work or similar settings).

A patient, calm and empathetic approach.

Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.

The ability to adapt learning materials and strategies to individual needs.

Confidence supporting challenging behaviour using de‑escalation techniques.

A proactive attitude and willingness to get fully involved in school life.

Preferred Qualifications

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

CACHE qualification or relevant childcare/education training.

Team Teach / PMVA / MAPA or similar behaviour‑support training.

SEN‑specific training such as Autism Awareness, Speech & Language, or Mental Health.
