TeacherActive is delighted to be working with a forward–thinking primary school in Bristol that is currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND on a 1:1 basis this January. The school is known for its inclusive values, warm community, and excellent SEN provision. You will play a key role in helping a child thrive academically and emotionally within a mainstream setting.

Your Role:

As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Deliver personalised lessons and activities that align with EHCP targetsCreate a safe, supportive space where the child feels valued and confidentUse positive behaviour support strategies and help the pupil manage emotional regulationLiaise with SENCOs, support staff, and external agencies to monitor progress and adjust provision as neededProvide both academic support and social–emotional guidance throughout the school day

As a Primary SEND Teacher (1:1), you will bring:

A Level 3 or 4 qualification in Learning Support (or equivalent) Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally on a 1:1 basis within a primary setting A calm, patient, and compassionate nature, with strong emotional awareness The ability to adapt and deliver differentiated learning strategies to suit individual needs Strong behaviour management and de–escalation techniques A fully enhanced Child–Only DBS on the update service Two references from recent educational settings
