Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join a newly established SEND Resource Base within a thriving primary school in East Central Bristol. This purpose-built provision supports pupils with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Pupils in the base may present with:

Sensory processing differencesSocial interaction and communication challengesEmotional regulation needsDelayed expressive and receptive languageHigh levels of anxiety or demand avoidanceCo-occurring needs such as ADHD or developmental delay The role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education and committed to supporting neurodiverse learners in a nurturing, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored support to pupils individually, in small groups, and within a specialist class (maximum 8 pupils)Collaborate with external professionals including Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and the Bristol Autism TeamAssist teaching staff with planning and enjoy half a day of dedicated PPA time weeklySupport a curriculum enriched with weekly forest school sessions and therapeutic approachesImplement strategies to support communication, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeingContribute to a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment Employee Benefits
