Pay: £90–£110 per day, dependent on experience

Contract: Full-time, long-term

First For Education is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in South Birmingham, supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys making a real difference, helping pupils develop confidence, overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals.

The school offers a supportive, nurturing environment with a strong emphasis on positive relationships, personalised support and emotional wellbeing. We are looking for someone who brings patience, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

SEND Teaching Assistant benefits:

Competitive daily rate (£90–£110 per day, dependent on experience)

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND

Experience working with Autism (ASC), SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable

Understanding of positive behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies

Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who may experience barriers to learning

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

A calm, patient and adaptable approach

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to applyThe successful SEND Teaching Assistant will:

Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs

Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities

Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction

Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and participation

Help create a safe, consistent and encouraging learning environment

Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and essential life skills

Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team to implement individual support strategies

Celebrate individual achievements and help every pupil make meaningful progress(url removed)
