In-Person Tutor/TA – Supporting School-Refusing Students
Flexible hours | Term-time only | SEN & Behavioural Support
We are looking for experienced and compassionate tutors to work 1:1 with children and young people who are currently out of school due to SEN, SEMH, or behavioural challenges. This role focuses on rebuilding confidence and engagement with learning, not just academic outcomes.
The Role
* Deliver 1:1 tuition during school hours (typically 9:00–15:00, Mon–Fri).
* Work in students’ homes or community settings.
* Teach core subjects (English, Maths, Science) with tailored approaches.
* Communicate with parents, schools, and professionals to track progress.
* Record outcomes and feedback accurately.
Hours & Flexibility
* Typically 6–15 hours per student, per week.
* Term-time only – evenings and weekends free.
* Option to take on more students for additional hours.
Requirements
* Experience teaching or tutoring children, ideally with SEN/SEMH needs.
* Confident working independently and managing a flexible timetable.
* Strong communication and rapport-building skills.
* Patience, resilience, and creativity in approach.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and safeguarding knowledge.
* Driving licence and access to transport often required.
Why It Matters
Many students have been out of school for long periods. As their tutor, you may be the only consistent support they receive. xjnqpsq Your role is about more than academics—it’s about helping them rebuild trust, routine, and confidence in themselves.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you
