SEND Teaching Assistant

Perry Common, Birmingham (easily accessible via public transport, with a short walk for non-drivers)

£110-£120 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, long-term temp-to-perm (Full Academic Year)

Long Term Futures is currently recruiting for a supportive and motivated Teaching Assistant who is keen to further their experience within a SEND secondary school setting.

If you are approachable, resilient, and professional, with a strong understanding of SEND and a passion for supporting secondary-aged pupils, this could be a great opportunity to progress your career.

About the Role

Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, and other professionals, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

* Supporting students both in lessons and in alternative learning environments

* Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages

* Setting clear and consistent expectations tailored to individual student needs

* Using positive behaviour strategies to support engagement and progress

* Monitoring student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriate

* Supporting students outside of the classroom to help them regulate before reintegrating into lessons

* Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive social interaction among pupils

Ideal Candidate Profile

* Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with SEND

* Calm, confident, and able to respond effectively to challenging behaviour

* Able to build strong, professional relationships while maintaining firm boundaries

* Reliable and committed to a long-term placement - consistency is vital for students

* Resilient and adaptable, with a proactive approach to supporting young people
