SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – Year 2)

Location: Camden, London, UK

Start Date: 29 May 2026

Salary: £100 – £120 per day

Job Type: Full Time, Temporary (Term Time Only)

Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Specialism: SEN, Autism (ASD), Interventions & Boosters

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

About the Role

Teach Now is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a high-needs child on a 1:1 basis in a Year 2 class at a welcoming primary school in Camden.

The child has a diagnosis of Autism (ASD) and does not present with behavioural challenges, but does experience anxiety. The school is seeking someone calm, patient, and emotionally attuned who can provide consistent support and build a strong, trusting relationship.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Autism in Year 2

• Support emotional regulation and help manage anxiety

• Build a consistent, trusting relationship through routine and structure

• Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs

• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO

• Provide additional support across the Year 1 team when required

• Monitor progress and engagement, reporting back to staff

About You

• Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD)

• Strong understanding of anxiety-based needs (non-behavioural SEN)

• Calm, patient, and nurturing approach

• Skilled at building rapport and creating a safe, supportive environment

• Flexible and willing to support across different year groups

• Experience in a primary school setting is highly desirable
