SEN Teaching Assistant - KS1 (Year 2 ASD Provision)

Location: Camden, London (Excellent transport links - Warren Street Station)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (until July 2026)

Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school in Camden, recognised for its outstanding SEN provision. The school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist Year 2 provision for children with complex Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) needs.

This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about SEN and committed to making a meaningful difference through a structured and personalised curriculum.

The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant

You will be responsible for:

Supporting pupils with ASD in a specialist Year 2 setting

Delivering personalised learning activities, including sensory play, art, music, singing, and motor skills development

Encouraging communication, emotional regulation, engagement, and independence

Implementing structured interventions tailored to individual needs

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider SEN team

Supporting the use of PECS, Attention Autism, and other evidence-based approaches

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs (school-based or alternative settings)

Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure

A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach

Excellent communication and oracy skills

A reliable, committed, and professional work ethic

Strong timekeeping and the ability xjnqpsq to follow structured routines

Desirable Experience:

PECS

Attention Autism

Experience working within specialist or SEN provisions

Compliance Requirements:

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Right to work in the UK

Two professional references covering the last two years

Full employment history with explanations for any gaps

Proof of address

Overseas police checks (if applicable)
