Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support

Letchworth Garden City

Class Education are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a Primary School in Letchworth.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in their learning.

About the Role

Role: Teaching Assistant – SEMH

*

Contract:Full-time (term-time only)

*

Start date: As soon as possible

You will work closely with teachers, the SEN team and external professionals to support pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them to regulate emotions, engage in learning and develop positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

*

Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis

*

Support behaviour management strategies and positive behaviour plans

*

Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience and social skills

*

Assist with classroom learning and adapt activities as needed

*

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

*

Support the wider school team with consistent routines and expectations

The Ideal Candidate Will

*

Have experience working with children with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs (desirable but not essential)

*

Be calm, patient and emotionally resilient

*

Have strong communication and teamwork skills

*

Be confident in supporting positive behaviour and de-escalation xjnqpsq strategies

*

Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
