SEN Teaching Assistant – Langley Mill, Derbyshire

Location: Langley Mill, Derbyshire

Contract Type: Full-time

Start Date: January 2026

Pay Rate: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Qualification Required: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / relevant qualification

Overview

Education Personnel are recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, 1:1 role within a primary school based in Langley Mill. This SEN TA role centres on supporting a pupil with additional needs in a mainstream setting.

The school is a long-standing part of the Langley Mill community and works closely with families to ensure pupils feel secure and understood in school. Class sizes are well managed, routines are clearly established, and SEN support is included in everyday classroom practice rather than delivered in isolation. There is a strong focus on helping pupils manage transitions, build communication skills, and remain engaged throughout the school day. Teaching Assistants are given time to understand pupils properly and are encouraged to use practical, child-centred strategies that support both learning and emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 SEN support, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs

• Support learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 where required

• Assist with planning, delivery, and assessment alongside the class teacher

• Monitor progress and help implement targeted interventions

• Support behaviour and emotional regulation using agreed strategies

• Contribute to reviews, meetings, and wider school activities when needed

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

• Has experience supporting pupils with SEN in a UK primary setting

• Confident working 1:1 and adapting learning in real time

• Calm, consistent, and confident with behaviour management

• Communicates well with pupils, staff, and parents

• Willing to be involved in school life and ongoing training
