SEN Teaching Assistant - Derby

Location: Derby

Contract Type: Temporary

Start Date: 05/01/26

Pay Rate: £90-£120 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Qualification: Level 2/3

Experience: Minimum 6 months’ experience in a UK primary school

Overview:

Education Personnel are delighted to be working in partnership with a progressive and well-respected SEN School in Derby to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN TA for a full-time position, starting in January This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled SEN TA to contribute to a thriving department and support students at Primary level.

This Specialist School is known for its structured approach and strong outcomes for pupils with additional and complex needs. The setting offers small, well-supported classes, clear and consistent behaviour approaches, and a calm learning environment where relationships are central to success. Staff work as part of a close-knit, highly skilled team with access to ongoing training, practical leadership support, and the opportunity to make a visible, lasting impact on young people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver 1:1 support, making necessary adaptations to the curriculum

* Plan, prepare, and assess Key Stage 1 and 2 lessons in line with school polices

* Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions

* Contribute to department improvement planning KS1 and KS2

* Attend staff meetings, CPD, and parents’ evenings as required

The Ideal Candidate:

* Holds Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification

* Has experience with SEN practice in a UK education setting.

* Is passionate about inclusion and student achievement

* Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills

* Demonstrates a collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to school life
