Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs?

A lovley SEMH school in Cumbria, is looking for a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. We are a specialist SEN school supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often accompanied by challenging behaviour and additional learning needs.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, helping them to re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs

Build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff

Support emotional regulation, resilience and engagement in learning

Assist with the delivery of personalised learning plans and behavioural strategies

Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and other professionals

Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive classroom environment

About You: Experience working with children with SEMH or in an SEN setting is desirable

Calm, consistent, and able to manage challenging behaviour effectively

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Patient, empathetic, and resilient under pressure

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are an advantage (but not essential)

Team Teach or similar de-escalation training is desirable (training can be provided)
