SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

Location: Newham, East London

Contract Type: Long-term contract, term-time only

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs?

We are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants on behalf of a number of secondary schools in Newham, seeking committed and caring individuals to join their inclusion and learning support teams on a long-term, term-time only basis.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENCo to provide targeted support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

You'll help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that every student can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with additional learning needs

Assisting in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities

Supporting students' social and emotional development

Helping to manage behaviour and promote a positive classroom environment

Liaising with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support progress

Contributing to individual education plans (IEPs) and student records

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

Passionate about supporting young people with SEN

Patient, empathetic, and resilient when faced with challenges

A strong communicator and team player

Experienced in supporting children or young people with additional needs (school experience desirable)

Committed to helping every student succeed academically and emotionally
