Description

Teach Now is working with a warm, inclusive primary school in Colindale, Barnet, to recruit a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant (Challenging Behaviours) from 1 September 2025. The school’s specialist provision supports Key Stage 2 children whose social, emotional and behavioural needs require patience, creativity and a can-do spirit. If you thrive on building trust with young people and celebrating every small breakthrough, this is your next chapter.

What makes this role special

• Impact that’s immediate: Your calm presence and tailored interventions will help pupils regulate emotions, re-engage with learning and rediscover confidence—one “light-bulb” moment at a time.

• Structured career ladder: Access Barnet’s acclaimed CPD network, behaviour-management masterclasses and pathways into HLTA status or teacher training.

• Work-life harmony: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term-time only

• Wellbeing first: On-site counsellor, mindfulness workshops.

• Competitive daily rate: £85–£100 per day, paid weekly—perfect for graduates exploring Ed Psych pathways or seasoned TAs seeking their next impact role.

Your day-to-day

• Deliver 1:1 and small-group support using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.

• Implement individual behaviour plans, recording triggers and triumphs to inform next steps.

• Liaise with the SENCo, therapists and class teachers to adapt resources and celebrate milestones.

• Lead structured play and sensory breaks, turning potential flashpoints into positive experiences.

• Model and champion school values—respect, resilience, responsibility—across the playground and classroom.

We’d love to meet someone who

• Has experience with ASD, ADHD or SEMH pupils—or can demonstrate transferrable youth-work skills.

• Brings boundless empathy, humour and a toolbox of de-escalation strategies.

• Communicates confidently with pupils, parents and professionals alike.

• Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS and relevant safeguarding training.
