SEN Teaching Assistant (Core Subject Specialist) – PRU, Lewisham Location: Lewisham, South East London

Pay: £95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time, long-term with potential to go permanent

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people in alternative education settings?

Do you have strong subject knowledge in English, Maths, or Science and the ability to engage learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or behavioural challenges?

We are currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Lewisham that is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN TA to provide both academic and emotional support to students who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities:

Support teaching and learning in core subjects such as English, Maths and Science.

Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to re-engage students in their education.

Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.

Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support emotional regulation and wellbeing.

Build positive, trusting relationships to help students achieve both academic and personal goals.Requirements:

Experience working in a PRU, SEMH or alternative provision setting.

Strong knowledge of at least one core subject area.

Excellent communication, patience, and resilience when supporting challenging behaviour.

A calm, empathetic and consistent approach to managing behaviour.
