About the role

Transparency Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for an autism support opportunity in Southwark. You will help pupils with autism (ASD) understand instructions, access learning activities and manage the demands of the school day.

You will need to recognise when communication, the environment or the pace of an activity is creating a barrier. Working alongside the class teacher, you will use agreed adjustments and encourage pupils to communicate choices, ask for help and complete appropriate tasks independently.

Use clear language, visual prompts and suitable processing time.

Prepare pupils for changes and support familiar classroom routines.

Apply individual sensory and regulation strategies consistently.

Record engagement and share observations with teachers and the SENCO.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role and the stated pay, applicants must have:

Relevant experience supporting autistic children or young people.

An observant approach and understanding of individual communication needs.

Consistency, patience and confidence working from personalised guidance.

Appropriate qualifications and training for the responsibilities of the post.

Higher rates reflect substantial relevant experience and/or training, such as a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent where relevant. Pay follows school expectations and AWR, where applicable.
