Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Thurrock. The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that enables every student to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.

Support pupils with SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.

Develop and implement strategies in line with EHCP targets and individual learning plans.

Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and senior staff.

Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.

Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive behaviour support strategies.

Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit different learning styles and abilities.

Promote student independence, confidence, and social development.

Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing policies are followed at all times.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

Experience working with children or young people with SEND.

Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies.

Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting students with additional needs.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable Skills

Experience within SEN schools, resource provisions, or mainstream inclusion settings.

Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or trauma-informed practice.

Knowledge of autism-friendly and sensory learning approaches.
