Teaching Assistant Severe Learning Disabilities

Location: Shropshire

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time

Salary: GBP92.89 - GBP110.08

Hours: 8.30- 15.30 Monday - Friday

Start Date: 12th October

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Shropshire.

The successful candidate will work with children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence and enjoy a positive experience at school.

The Role: As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide high-quality, individualised support.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils with severe learning disabilities in the classroom and throughout the school day.

Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.

Helping pupils access their learning through appropriate communication and sensory strategies.

Supporting pupils with personal care and other individual needs where required.

Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interaction.

Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtime and school activities.

Following individual education and support plans.

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional well being.

Working closely with teachers, parents/carers and other professionals.

Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.

Enthusiastic about helping children achieve their potential.

Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Calm and confident when supporting children with complex needs.

A good communicator and team player.

Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Flexible and willing to learn.

Previous experience working with severe learning disabilities, SEND, autism or complex needs would be an advantage, although we would also welcome applications from candidates who have the right attitude and are keen to develop their skills. xjnqpsq
