SEN HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Location: Bristol

Contract Type: Full Time/ Part Time

Salary: up to 625 a week DOE

Start Date: September 2025

A lovely SEN and SEMH School in Bristol is looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEN HLTA to support our pupils with special educational needs. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to contribute to a school that places inclusion and pupil well–being at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role:

As a SEN HLTA, you will:

Deliver pre–planned lessons and interventions across a range of subjects and key stages, under the guidance of teaching staff and the SENCOProvide targeted support to pupils with a variety of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning delays, and SEMH needsSupport the assessment, planning, and delivery of individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and EHCP targetsPromote engagement, independence, and progress for pupils both in and out of the classroomProvide mentoring, training, and support to teaching assistants where appropriateContribute to reviews and meetings for pupils with SEN, liaising with parents, external professionals, and the wider pastoral teamRequirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

Hold HLTA status (achieved via a recognised UK HLTA preparation programme) or have an equivalent Level 4 (or above) qualification in education or child developmentHave GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or aboveHave proven experience supporting pupils with SEND in a UK primary, secondary or special school settingHave up–to–date knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015), EHCP processes, and safeguarding practices in educationHave a strong understanding of UK educational frameworks and national curriculum expectationsAbout You:
