1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant - Full Time (ASAP Start)

Start date: ASAP

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a primary setting in central Bolton. This is a full-time role, starting as soon as possible and continuing through to the end of the academic year, with potential to gain a permanent role from September 2026.

This position involves providing consistent, tailored support to a child with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil engage with learning, build positive relationships, and develop effective strategies to manage their emotions.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's individual needs

Build a strong, trusting relationship to promote engagement and emotional security

Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities

Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt support

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have previous experience working in a similar SEMH or behaviour support role

Be calm, patient and resilient, particularly in response to emotionally dysregulated behaviour

Have a good understanding of strategies to support children with additional needs

Be committed to making a positive difference in a child's school experience

Be able to work effectively as part of a team
