Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Do you want meaningful, school-based experience before teacher training or an Educational Psychology route? Could you provide calm, consistent support that helps pupils with SEN access learning and thrive?

*** Immediate start until July 2026

*** £81 - £101 per day

*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Ward of Selly Oak

*** Support and guidance to pupils with SEN requirements

The Role:

Work alongside the SENCO and class teachers to deliver targeted support for pupils with additional needs. You’ll run short, purposeful interventions, provide 1:1 assistance, use visual supports and clear routines, and help pupils regulate and re-engage with learning. You’ll keep concise notes on impact and share next steps with staff and parents.

The Candidate:

You hold a psychology (or related) degree, communicate clearly, and bring a patient, empathetic approach. You can follow support plans, maintain firm but fair boundaries, and build trust quickly with pupils and families.

Requirements

• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.

• Communication – Strong verbal and written communication.

• Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.

• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, child development and pupil wellbeing.

• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
