Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

Contract: Long term - potential to go permanent

Hours: Full-time and part-time available

Pay: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary schools in Northumberland to recruit Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to start in september or ideally earlier. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young people with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.

You will work with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, providing targeted behaviour support to help students engage positively with learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support

Support students with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or additional learning barriers

Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans

Assist with de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies

Support pupils in classrooms, intervention spaces, or alternative provision settings

Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral, and SEN teams

Monitor and report on student behaviour and engagement

Promote a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, care, or similar)

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

Resilient, calm, and adaptable approach

Ability to build positive relationships with young people

Desirable:

Experience in a secondary school or SEMH setting

Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and trauma-informed practice

Team Teach or positive handling training

Relevant qualifications (e.g. Youth Work, Psychology, Education)
