Contract: Permanent, Part–Time

Put your Motor Vehicle experience to work and help train the next generation of mechanics!

Think FE is recruiting an experienced Motor Vehicle Lecturer to join a well–established further education college in Merseyside.

This is a great opportunity for a qualified Motor Vehicle Lecturer looking for a permanent, part–time position with a good work–life balance.

You'll be working in newly refurbished Motor Vehicle workshops, delivering practical and classroom–based teaching to students studying Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

The role offers the opportunity to share your industry knowledge, develop students' practical skills and help prepare them for successful careers in the automotive industry.

What you'll be doing

Deliver engaging practical and theory–based Motor Vehicle lessons to Level 1, 2 and 3 learners. Teach light vehicle maintenance, servicing, repairs and diagnostics. Demonstrate engine maintenance, mechanical repairs and component replacement. Deliver practical training in vehicle electrical systems, chassis, driveline and transmission. Support learners with fault finding, diagnostics and rectification. Plan and prepare lessons, practical activities and teaching resources. Assess student work, provide feedback and monitor learner progress. Support students in developing their technical knowledge, confidence and employability skills. Maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop environment. Work alongside teaching colleagues to support curriculum delivery and student achievement.

What we're looking for

Essential Requirements:

Minimum Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent automotive qualification. A recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, Cert Ed or Diploma in Education and Training. Previous teaching experience within further education. Strong practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs. Experience delivering or supporting practical workshop sessions. Good understanding of light vehicle mechanical and electrical systems. Strong communication, organisation and classroom management skills. The ability to engage and support learners with different abilities and experience levels.

Desirable:

Experience delivering Motor Vehicle qualifications across Levels 1 3. Previous industry experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician, Mechanic or Diagnostic Technician. Knowledge of modern automotive diagnostic equipment. Experience assessing vocational qualifications and practical workshop assessments. Experience developing teaching resources and schemes of work. Experience supporting apprentices or learners preparing for employment.

What's on offer?

GBP12,938 GBP16,222 actual annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications. Permanent, part–time contract at 0.4 FTE. Approximately two working days per week. Opportunity to teach in newly refurbished Motor Vehicle facilities. A rewarding role supporting students working towards industry–recognised qualifications. The chance to maintain a good work–life balance while continuing your teaching career. A supportive further education environment with opportunities for professional development. Interested?

If you're an experienced Motor Vehicle Lecturer with a Level 3 automotive qualification and FE teaching experience, we'd love to hear from you.

This could be an ideal opportunity if you're looking to reduce your working hours, combine teaching with other commitments or secure a permanent part–time position within further education.

Apply today with your CV, or contact Think FE to discuss the opportunity further.

Please note: Applicants will be required to complete the college's application form alongside submitting their CV.

Think FE is acting as an employment agency in relation to this permanent vacancy. Appointment will be subject to relevant safeguarding and pre–employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
