Contract Type: Part-Time, Ongoing

Pay: Competitive, Based on Experience

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We’re looking for a flexible and compassionate Outreach Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the local community across Barnsley and surrounding areas.

About the Role:

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to work outside of a traditional classroom setting, providing tailored support to pupils who benefit from outreach education. You’ll work closely with schools, families, and other professionals to help young learners re-engage with education and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

* Delivering 1:1 sessions in community settings or pupils’ homes

* Supporting pupils with SEMH needs to access learning in a safe and nurturing way

* Building trusting relationships with pupils and their families

* Liaising with schools and external agencies to ensure joined-up support

* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to progress reviews

What We’re Looking For:

* Experience working with SEMH pupils or in alternative provision is preferable

* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

* Strong communication and relationship-building skills

* Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs

* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential; mileage will be paid

Why Join Us?

* Flexible working pattern (2–3 days per week)

* Supportive team and ongoing professional development

* Opportunity to make a real impact in the local community

If you’re ready to take your skills beyond the classroom and help young people thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
