Location: Chesterfield

Pay: 100– 125 per day, depending on experience

Contract: Full–time Term Time Only

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN setting in Chesterfield, supporting children and young people with severe and complex additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about providing nurturing, consistent and highly individualised support to pupils who require a significant level of adult support throughout the school day.

The pupils may have severe learning difficulties, complex communication needs, physical disabilities, autism and behaviours of concern. The successful candidate will need to be confident working with pupils who require a high level of support and understand the importance of patience, routine and consistency.

The Role

As a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

Providing dedicated 1:1 and small–group support to pupils with severe SENSupporting pupils with their learning, communication and developmentProviding a calm, nurturing and reassuring presence throughout the school dayHelping pupils regulate their emotions and manage behaviours of concernSupporting pupils to develop independence and confidenceAssisting with personal care where requiredFollowing individual support, behaviour and education plansWorking closely with teachers, therapists and wider specialist staffCreating positive relationships with pupils and celebrating their progress

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalentPrevious experience working with children or young people with severe, profound or complex SENExperience within a specialist SEN school, care setting or similar environmentA naturally nurturing, patient and caring approachThe ability to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situationsStrong communication and teamwork skillsA genuine passion for supporting children with additional needsThe resilience required to work with pupils who may require very high levels of supportExperience supporting children with complex autism, SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
