Learning Support Assistant | Derby City Centre | £430-£460 per week after deductions | Full Time | Interviews Commencing ASAP

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a full-time role within a specialist secondary setting in Derby City Centre. This position involves working closely with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing both academic support and pastoral guidance to help them engage with education.

This is a long-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

Responsibilities as the new Learning Support Assistant:

Support students with SEMH needs in a secondary classroom setting, adapting learning materials and approaches to suit their individual needs.

Build positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement, trust, and emotional wellbeing.

Assist in managing challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques and supporting behaviour plans.

Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans, monitoring progress and providing feedback to staff.

Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to support student development.Essential Candidate Requirements:

Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a school or similar setting.

A calm, patient, and resilient nature, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

A genuine commitment to supporting young people to succeed both academically and personally.

A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).What Long Term Futures Offers:
