Working Hours: Full-time or part time cover, Tuesday to Friday (8.30 am to 3.30 pm), Monday (8.30 am to 5.00 pm)

Job Description:

Timeplan Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work at a large SEN school in Exeter, providing short-term cover on a weekly basis until the end of the academic year. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to secondary age pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will involve assisting students in their academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring they have equal opportunities for learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with additional needs, both inside and outside the classroom.

- Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and resources as necessary.

- Support students in developing social and emotional skills, fostering a positive learning environment.

- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create individualised learning plans and monitor student progress.

- Help manage challenging behaviours and provide guidance on appropriate behaviour and conflict resolution.

- Assist with personal care and other practical tasks as required.

- Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to relevant staff members.

- Attend training sessions and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable.

- Strong passion for working with SEN students and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in their lives.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

- Empathy, patience, and resilience in dealing with students' diverse needs and challenges.

- Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.

- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and the willingness to learn and grow professionally.
