SEND Learning Support Assistant (Secondary)

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-Term Supply

Salary: £85 - £95 per day (depending on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Stoke-on-Trent, which is seeking to appoint a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to start as soon as possible. This full-time, long-term role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need additional support to thrive in their education.

The Role:

As a SEND LSA, you will work closely with the school's SENDCO and teaching staff to provide tailored, one-to-one or small group support for pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils with their learning and engagement across a range of subjects

Adapting learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual needs

Promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment

Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff and SEN professionals

Assisting with personal care and mobility where necessary (training provided)

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have prior experience supporting young people with SEND, preferably in a secondary school setting

Be calm, nurturing, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

Be confident in managing behaviour in a supportive and empathetic manner

Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning) - desirable but not essential

Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
