Learning Support Assistant (Visual Impairment Experience) – Sixth Form College – Kensington

Location: Kensington, London

Contract Type: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP or September 2025

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

We are currently working with a highly regarded sixth form college in Chelsea to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with specific experience supporting students with visual impairments (VI).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a compassionate and proactive LSA who understands the unique needs of learners with visual impairments and is passionate about inclusive education at post-16 level.

The Role:

As a General LSA with VI experience, you will:

*

Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to students with visual impairments, both in and out of the classroom.

*

Assist in adapting learning materials into accessible formats (e.g., large print, braille, digital).

*

Support student engagement and participation across a variety of subjects and courses.

*

Collaborate closely with teaching staff and the college’s SEN team to implement personalised support plans.

*

Encourage independence while ensuring academic and social inclusion.

*

Maintain a strong awareness of safeguarding, access arrangements, and assistive technologies.

Requirements:

*

Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting is essential.

*

Knowledge of accessibility tools (e.g. screen readers, magnifiers) and/or braille is highly desirable.

*

Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.

*

A flexible, student-focused approach to learning support.

*

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
