Teaching Assistant (Full Time)

Central Preston Primary School

Start Date: 23rd February 2026

Contract: Full time until the end of the academic year

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:15pm

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive primary school in central Preston. This is a full-time role, starting from 23rd February and continuing until the end of the academic year.

The role is a general academic support position, working across Year 5 and Year 6, supporting pupils both in class and through targeted group or individual work. You will work closely with class teachers to help pupils succeed during this important stage of their primary education.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting teaching and learning in Year 5 and Year 6 classrooms

Working with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning

Assisting with classroom organisation and preparation of resources

Promoting positive behaviour and engagement

Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

The successful candidate must:

Have relevant experience working with primary-aged children (KS2 experience desirable)

Hold a childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)

Be patient, adaptable, and proactive

Have strong communication and teamwork skills

Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
