Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full–Time Long–Term Temp to Perm

Location: Primary School in a Supportive Community, Colchester

Hours: Monday to Friday (Full–Time)

Contract: Long–Term Temporary with Potential to Become Permanent

A small, thriving, and highly regarded primary school is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dedicated team. This is a full–time position, initially offered on a long–term temporary basis, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

Set in beautiful grounds and well–resourced classrooms, the school is known for its inclusive ethos, supportive leadership, and strong community values. It offers a warm and welcoming environment where staff and pupils are encouraged to thrive.

About the Role:

As HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will deliver planned lessons, provide targeted interventions, and work closely with class teachers to ensure all pupils make progress. The role may involve working with small groups or covering classes as needed.

Key Requirements:

HLTA status or equivalent experiencePrevious experience working in a primary school settingStrong behaviour management and communication skillsFlexible, proactive, and able to use initiativeA genuine passion for supporting children's learning and developmentThe School Offers:
