Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEND Support (KS1 & KS2)

Location: Tottenham, London (N15 4AB)

Pay: £155 per day

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Temporary (with potential for ongoing work)

JOB OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (Years 3–5 primarily, with some KS1 support where required) within a supportive and inclusive primary setting in North London.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to deliver targeted interventions, support learning in class, and help ensure pupils with additional needs are fully included, engaged, and making progress both academically and emotionally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver planned learning activities and targeted interventions to individuals and small groups across KS1 and KS2 (Y3–Y5 focus)

Support pupils with a range of SEND needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays

Assist in the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans

Provide in-class support to ensure access to learning for all pupils

Support positive behaviour strategies and contribute to effective classroom management

Work closely with class teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams to monitor progress

Provide feedback on pupil engagement, behaviour, and attainment

Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environmentPERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate will have:

HLTA qualification or substantial experience in a similar role

Strong experience working with primary-aged children (KS1 and KS2)

Confidence supporting pupils with SEND and behavioural needs

Experience delivering interventions in literacy, numeracy, or social skills

A calm, patient, and resilient approach

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

Good understanding of safeguarding proceduresWHY APPLY?
