Are you an enthusiastic and adaptable HLTA with a passion for supporting young learners?

Rotherwood Education are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and forward-thinking school in the Accrington area from September 2025!

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, flexible, and ready to take on new challenges in a dynamic learning environment.

About the role:

As an HLTA, you will be responsible for providing targeted support to students in schools. Your role will involve assisting teachers with lesson delivery, supporting students’ individual needs, and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You will also be a key figure in delivering pastoral care and working closely with staff to help students overcome challenges and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist with the educational and social development of pupils under the guidance of teaching staff

* Support students with their learning in the classroom

* Contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment where all students are valued and supported

* Take a lead role in delivering pastoral support and mentoring to pupils

* Provide targeted support for students with additional needs

* Conduct baseline assessments and identify pupils requiring additional support

* Build strong, supportive relationships with students, acting as a positive role model

The ideal HLTA will:

* Hold HLTA status or an equivalent qualification, or have substantial relevant experience

* Demonstrate a clear understanding of child development and the learning process, including barriers to learning

* Have experience working with children with diverse needs, including challenging behaviour

* Be confident in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive learning environments

* Show flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

* Be proactive in providing support for students’ emotional and social development

Requirements:

* HLTA qualification (or equivalent)

* Proven track record or relevant school-based experience

* A current, enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one

* Relevant references to support your application

* Willingness to attend a face-to-face registration and complete necessary vetting checks
